As you can imagine, running a charter yacht business is incredibly hard work and there are consistently so many things to consider. Coordinating a busy charter schedule to find a suitable time for the yacht to be in the shipyard while also dealing with a variety of vendors can be overwhelming to manage. This is why yacht charter companies are always in search of alternative options when it comes to aiding the yacht refit process.
Yacht refitting usually takes place during very tight gaps in the charter schedules, which makes it imperative that work is carried out quickly and efficiently but still to the highest possible standard. At Eclipse Yacht Furnishing, our technology has shortened the time that a yacht is out of service for refit by offering a process that is convenient for everybody involved.
With well-coordinated efforts between trades and our digital template of the vessel, we can start and finish a project while a yacht is hundreds or thousands of miles away. This is reflected in one of our latest yacht refit projects, M/Y Bella. This yacht is constantly on charter and needed an area to be redone without the inconvenience of rescheduling upcoming charter trips.
Although it was in acceptable condition, this is the original style of the area on deck that needed refreshing. The client decided that they no longer wished to have the main seating area the same height as the ottoman.
A new structure was designed, and the blueprints were provided ahead of time to a woodworking company independent from our shop. We were also asked to add our AireMaze anti-mould yacht cushions.
The detailed blueprint provided to the woodworking company was also sent to us.
Using these surfaces to start the design process, our team were able to digitize the wooden structure in preparation for the yacht upholstery design.
The designer uses the digitized file along with the instructions on the design blueprint to create an idea for a finished product. Once we get approval from the client, we swiftly move on to production. It’s important to note that once we have the relevant information the yacht can be located anywhere in the world. The digital template allows us to work on vessels no matter where they are anchored.
Once the 3D images are approved, we are then able to build the yacht cushions and fit them onto the wooden structure for installation on board. Due to the accuracy of our digital measurements, we are able to ensure a perfect fit on all yacht upholstery.
We are also able to design weather covers at the same time without the need for more information from the yacht. Once we have the digital template we can reuse it, which promotes efficiency while saving time and money. Find out more information on our digitized 3D design process.
The yacht cushions and weather covers were made prior to the arrival of M/Y Bella. We were then able to do a quick installation, so the yacht was able to keep on schedule for its charter season.
